LSU's Flau'jae Johnson enters final NCAA tournament after staying loyal to Tigers throughout college career

Flau'jae Johnson, a guard for the LSU Tigers women's basketball team in the Southeastern Conference, committed to the program on November 15, 2020, and has remained with the school since enrolling as a freshman in 2021.[1][2] Her decision bucks the transfer portal trend prevalent in the Name, Image and Likeness era of college athletics.

Johnson wears jersey number 4 and buried her late bearded dragon, also named Four, on the Baton Rouge campus in late 2023.[3] She has referenced bringing her current bearded dragon, Champ, along for postseason play, including past NCAA tournament appearances.[4]

Johnson, from Savannah, Georgia, was a 2021 McDonald's All-American and the first such recruit signed by LSU coach Kim Mulkey, who joined the program ahead of the 2021-22 season.[1][2] Mulkey's Tigers won the 2023 NCAA Division I women's basketball championship.[5]

In her three full seasons through 2023-24, Johnson averaged 10.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, helping LSU to the 2023 title and a No. 3 seed in the 2024 NCAA tournament.[2] She signed an NIL partnership with the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league on August 21, 2024.[6]

Johnson is also a recording artist signed to Roc Nation since 2022.[2] LSU plays in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.[1] She enters the 2025-26 season as a fifth-year senior eligible for one final NCAA tournament.
