Madison Square Garden Launches "Thank You, NYPD" Campaign with Exclusive Concert

New York City's Madison Square Garden has announced the "Thank You, NYPD" campaign to express appreciation for the New York City Police Department. The initiative includes an exclusive concert scheduled for March 28 at the arena, open to uniformed officers, civilian staff members and their families.

The event features performers including singer Cyndi Lauper, musician John Fogerty, rapper Fat Joe, and comedians Chris Distefano and Sam Morril.[1] Madison Square Garden Entertainment is covering production and operating costs through donations, providing the show rent-free. The organization is also inviting New York residents to submit personal "thank you" videos.

Cyndi Lauper, a two-time Grammy Award winner and lifelong New Yorker,[2] said in a statement: "I am happy to show my appreciation for the brave members of the NYPD by performing at this MSG event. We are all New Yorkers, and the NYPD is such an important part of our community."

Jim Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of MSG Entertainment and MSG Sports,[3] described the event as a non-political gesture of gratitude. "There are times in our culture today when the dissenter’s voice is louder than that of the majority. Such is the case with law enforcement, and in particular, the NYPD," Dolan said.

Madison Square Garden, located at 4 Pennsylvania Plaza in Midtown Manhattan, opened in 1968 and serves as home to the NBA's New York Knicks and NHL's New York Rangers.[4] MSG Sports, chaired by Dolan, owns the Knicks, and Dolan serves as the team's governor on the NBA Board of Governors. Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, is a prominent New York Knicks supporter.[1][5]

The announcement was made via a post on X by Madison Square Garden on a Wednesday.[1]
