MLW Champion Killer Kross Adopted a Stray Cat Despite Lifelong Allergy
Major League Wrestling world heavyweight champion Killer Kross has described how a stray kitten appeared at his front door roughly a year and a half ago and gradually became a permanent member of his household - a development complicated from the outset by a severe cat allergy that had previously sent him to hospital. Kross discussed the animal during a video interview focused on MLW's new streaming partnership, at which point the cat climbed onto his lap and prompted the exchange.
Kross, who competes alongside his wife, professional wrestler Scarlett Bordeaux, said the couple first spotted the kitten outside their home with no collar and in visibly poor condition. They left out food sporadically, and the cat returned. Over time, visits became routine. The animal began leaving dead mice at the door - a behavior Kross said he had to research, having had no prior experience with cats. A hurricane forced a difficult decision: unwilling to bring the animal indoors given his allergy, his wife purchased outdoor cat structures and supplies so the kitten could shelter safely at the front entrance. The cat remained there for approximately six months.
Physical contact came gradually. Kross said petting the cat initially produced hives, but the reaction diminished over repeated exposure. The situation changed sharply when the cat was found injured and bleeding. Kross transported it to a veterinarian, paid for blood testing - which returned negative for blood-borne pathogens and disease - and covered the cost of surgery. With a post-operative cone preventing the cat from being left outside, the couple cleared a room in their home and installed a full setup including an automatic litter box. The cat has since lived indoors alongside the couple's two dogs. "They all lay together, they sleep together, they play together," Kross said. He added that his allergy symptoms have not recurred since the cat moved inside, a change he described as without explanation. "My first time in my life I've had a cat," he said. "It's awesome."
Kross captured the MLW world heavyweight title in January by winning Battle Riot VIII, a match that requires a competitor to defeat a succession of opponents in a single evening. The new season of MLW Fusion is set to debut on the promotion's global streaming platform at no cost to viewers on Saturday night.
